John Brussa, Sr. Partner, Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP
Calgary, Alberta

Mr. Brussa is a senior partner in the Calgary-based law firm of Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP specializing in the area of taxation. Mr. Brussa’s practice includes structured finance, taxation of international energy operations, corporate and income trust restructuring and reorganization, dispute resolution and acquisitions and divestitures. He is Chairman of the Board of Penn West Energy Trust and is a director of a number of energy and energy-related corporations and income funds including: Petrobank Energy and Resources Ltd., Baytex Energy Ltd. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Baytex Energy Trust), FET Resources Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Focus Energy Trust) and Harvest Operations Corp. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harvest Energy Trust).  John is also a past governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation and is a director or trustee of a number of charitable or non-profit organizations.

 

Jim Saunders, President & CEO, Twin Butte Energy Ltd.
Calgary, Alberta

Mr. Saunders is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of Twin Butte Energy Ltd. Prior thereto, he was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Prairie Schooner Petroleum Ltd., President and Chief Executive Officer of Great Northern Exploration Ltd., and President and Chief Executive Officer of Ionic Energy Inc. He is currently a director of Orleans Energy Ltd., Savanna Energy Services Corp. and Northern Plains Capital Fund. Mr. Saunders received his Professional Engineering designation from APEGGA in 1983. Mr. Saunders holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, which he obtained from the University of New Brunswick in 1982.


Doug Baker, Independent Businessman
Calgary, Alberta

Mr. Baker has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and is a professional chartered accountant who served as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 2003. An independent businessman, Mr. Baker was Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Valiant Energy Inc. prior to its takeover by Peerless Energy Inc. in September 2006. He served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Forte Resources and its predecessors since August 2001. Before that, Mr. Baker held positions as President and Chief Financial Officer of Forte Energy Ltd. from July 1997 to May 2001, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Territorial Resources Inc. from 1996 to 1997, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chancellor Energy Resources Inc. from 1993 to 1996, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Eagle Petroleum Ltd. from 1991 to 1993, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Canadian Conquest Exploration Inc. from 1983 to 1991 and Manager and staff accountant with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells from 1975 to 1983. Mr. Baker is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honours and Distinction. He has been a chartered accountant since 1977. In 1996, Mr. Baker received the honour of being named a Fellow of Chartered Accountants. Mr. Baker joined Orleans’ Board in October 2007 and serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee.


D. Michael G. Stewart, B.Sc., P.Eng.
Calgary, Alberta

Mr. Stewart is a corporate director serving on the boards of Pengrowth Energy Trust, TransCanada Corporation, Canadian Energy Services Inc. (the general partner of Canadian Energy Services LP), and Northpoint Energy Ltd. Mr. Stewart is a native Albertan and a graduate from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Sciences. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.
 

Barry Olson, President & CEO Orleans Energy Ltd.
Calgary, Alberta

Mr. Olson is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Orleans Energy Ltd.  Mr. Olson is a petroleum engineer with 28 years of diverse industry experience. Mr. Olson graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Petroleum Engineering Degree from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1983 and is a registered member of APEGGA. Prior to Orleans, Mr. Olson was employed as Manager, Corporate Development & Marketing with U.S. independent, Tom Brown Resources Ltd. Mr. Olson was instrumental in the $145 million corporate acquisition of Stellarton Energy Corp., providing the initial entry into Canada for Tom Brown Inc. Mr. Olson has held management and executive positions in several publicly traded oil and gas companies, including Ionic Energy Ltd., Scorpion Energy Inc., Orbit Oil & Gas Ltd., Chancellor Energy Ltd., Canadian Hunter Exploration Ltd. and Unocal Canada Ltd.
